Exporting a Tileset from Agisoft Metashape

Overview

This guide explains how to export a tileset from Agisoft Metashape so it can be uploaded into Twinsity.

Follow these steps to generate the required files before creating a new project in Twinsity.

Required Output Files

Before uploading to Twinsity, ensure you have all of the following:

File Type
Format
Notes
3D Tileset
.3TZ
Cesium 3D Tiles
Camera Parameters
Block Exchange .XML
Must use WGS 84 (EPSG:4326)
Original Images
.JPG or .PNG
All images used in reconstruction

All three are required for a successful upload.

Step 1: Align Photos

  1. Add your images to the project.

  2. Go to Workflow → Align Photos.

  3. Adjust alignment settings as required.

  4. Run photo alignment.

Important

  • If you move the point cloud, you must realign photos and rebuild the model.

  • If you move the entire mesh, restart again from Align Photos.

Step 2: Build the Tiled Model

  1. Go to Workflow → Build Tiled Model.

  2. Adjust quality settings as required.

  3. Run the tiled model generation.

Step 3: Export Camera Parameters

  1. Go to File → Export Cameras…

  2. Select Block Exchange (*.xml) as the export format.

  3. Choose a filename and click Save.

  4. In the export dialogue:

    • Set coordinate system to WGS 84 (EPSG:4326)

    • Uncheck all “Export Parameters” options

  5. Click OK to generate the .xml file.

Step 4: Export the 3D Tileset

  1. Go to File → Export Tiled Model

  2. Select Cesium 3D Tiles 1.1 (*.3tz).

  3. Choose a filename and click Save.

  4. Keep all default parameters.

  5. Click OK to generate the .3tz file.

NotesNote: Cesium 3D Tiles are always exported in WGS 84 by design. Selecting a different coordinate system is not possible.

Final Check Before Uploading

Before uploading to Twinsity, confirm that:

  • The .3tz tileset file is present

  • The camera parameter .xml file includes all images

  • The original image folder is complete and unchanged

Do not rename or modify exported files or folders.
