Uploading a project requires Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, on a desktop computer.
Uploads read directly from your hard drive as they go, rather than copying everything into the browser first. That is what makes multi-gigabyte image sets practical, and the capability only exists in Chromium-based browsers today.
In Safari or Firefox you can sign in and use everything else; you simply cannot start an upload.
Viewing models, inspecting images, recording observations and generating reports all work in any current browser. Only the upload has the restriction.
That said, the 3D view is demanding, so a current browser on a machine with a reasonable graphics card gives a much better experience than an old laptop.
If the 3D view does not open at all, see Troubleshooting a project that will not open in 3D.
Twinsity is built for a desktop screen. Inspection work means fine detail on images and precise clicks on a 3D model, neither of which suits a touchscreen. There is no mobile app.
| Uploading | Chrome or Edge, desktop |
| Everything else | Any current desktop browser |
| Screen | Desktop-sized; the interface uses two panels side by side |
| Graphics | A dedicated or recent integrated GPU for the 3D view |
| Network | A stable connection. Uploads resume, but only in the same browser on the same computer |
| What you see | What it means |
| No upload option in Safari or Firefox | Expected. Use Chrome or Edge. |
| The browser keeps asking for hard-drive permission | Browsers forget it periodically. Grant it again and pick the same folder. |
| An upload will not resume | You must be in the same browser on the same computer. See Uploading, pausing and resuming. |
| The wizard says uploading a tileset needs 3D graphics | A New Tileset project shows you your model before it sends anything, so it needs 3D. See Troubleshooting a project that will not open in 3D. |
