Setting up Observation Profiles
An Observation Profile defines what your team records for every finding: the classes of defect, and the fields filled in for each. Every project uses one.
Profiles are workspace-wide, so a change reaches every project using that profile.
Find them under Profiles in the left rail. Anyone with access to a project in the workspace can view them; creating and editing needs workspace-admin rights.
Creating a profile
Click New profile, give it a name, and choose its language.
The language cannot be changed later. It is set when the profile is created and fixed from then on, and the builder says so when you try to change it. Choose the language your team will author in.
Observation classes
A class is a kind of finding: crack, corrosion, spalling, whatever your inspections use.
- Add class creates one.
- Duplicate, inside the builder, copies the class with all its fields, so a similar class does not need rebuilding. Copying a whole profile is a different action, covered below.
- Each profile has a default class that cannot be deleted.
Give each a colour. Observations take their class's colour, so a consistent scheme makes the 3D view readable at a glance.
Fields
Fields are what an inspector fills in. Add field adds one to the class you have selected.

Dates are dates only. There is no time-of-day field.
Fields on one class or on all
A field added to a class belongs to that class. Some fields are needed on several classes: a reference number, say. For those, use Duplicate field and pick which classes get it, rather than adding it by hand each time.
Saving
Save profile stores it. If the profile is already used by projects, some things are locked. See Understanding locked Observation Profile edits.
Reusing a profile in other workspaces
A profile you have built for one workspace can be copied into others, so a standard you have agreed once does not have to be rebuilt per client or per region.
In the profiles list, open the profile's Duplicate action. A list of workspaces appears.
- Tick every workspace you want a copy in. You can pick several at once.
- Click Duplicate to 2 workspaces, or whatever the count says.
Nothing is ticked when the list opens, so the button reads Select a workspace until you choose one.
The current workspace is in the list too, marked current, so this is also how you make a second copy alongside the original.
Copies are independent
Duplicating gives each workspace its own profile. Editing one afterwards leaves the others untouched, and each keeps its own name and classes. There is no link back to the original, so a change you want everywhere has to be made in each copy.
Why is a workspace greyed out?
Workspaces you can see but cannot add profiles to are shown greyed, marked admin only. You need workspace-admin rights in the target workspace, not just in the one you are copying from.
If the list says No other workspaces available, you have admin rights in this workspace only.
If some copies work and others do not
Each workspace is copied into separately, so a failure in one does not undo the others. The message names the workspaces that did not work, and the copies that landed stay. Try the named ones again.
Why can't I create, edit or duplicate a profile?
