Filling in an observation's details
When you create an observation, its details panel opens on the right. This is where you record what you found: the class of defect, how serious it is, and whatever else your team tracks.
Choosing the observation class
The class says what kind of finding this is: a crack, corrosion, spalling, and so on. Click the class name at the top of the panel to open a searchable list; each entry shows its colour and, where your team has added one, a short description.
The available classes come from the Observation Profile attached to your project, so they are your team's own list rather than a fixed one. See Setting up Observation Profiles.
Picking a class sets the observation's colour to that class's colour.
Setting severity
Severity is a row of chips: 1 to 5, plus i for informational findings that are not defects.
Naming the observation
Display Name is free text. It commits when you click away or press Enter; press Esc to discard what you typed. It cannot be left empty. Clear it and the previous name comes back.
When you pick a class, the name is filled in with the class name automatically. Overwrite it whenever something more specific is useful.
Your team's own fields
Below severity are the fields your Observation Profile defines: dimensions, materials, reference numbers, whatever your inspections need. Fields can be specific to the class you chose, or shared across all classes, in which case they are grouped separately.
Dates in these fields are dates only. There is no time-of-day field.
Changing the colour
Click the coloured icon at the top of the panel to pick a different colour for this observation alone. Use it to make one finding stand out.
Reset to class colour puts it back to the class default.
The three tabs

Properties shows read-only facts: shape, Observation ID, and who created and last changed it. For lines and areas it also shows the measured Length, Area and number of Segments.
Other things in this panel
- Go to observation flies the 3D camera to it.
- Copy link copies a link straight to this observation, for pasting into an email or ticket.
- Update perspective re-takes the report screenshot from wherever the 3D camera is now. Use it when the automatic screenshot does not show the defect well.
- Save changes stores your edits, and Discard puts them back. See Saving your observations.
- The × deselects the observation. The panel itself stays open, ready for your next selection. If you have unsaved edits it asks what to do with them first.
Why can't I change anything?
