Managing your observation list
A project with hundreds of observations needs narrowing down before you can work through it. The observation list has a search box and a filter for that, and once the list shows the batch you have in mind, you can select all of it and act on it in one go.
Searching by name
Type in the Search box above the list. Matching happens as you type and looks at observation names.
Clear it with the × in the field, which appears once you have typed something.
Filtering
Open the filter and you can narrow by:
- Shape: Tag, Image, Line or Area
- Observation class: your team's own classes, each with its colour
Every filter shows a live count, so you can see how many observations match before applying it. Filters and search work together: with both active you see only observations matching both.
A dot on the filter button tells you a filter is narrowing the list. A filtered list looks exactly like a short one, so if observations seem to be missing, check for the dot first.
The class filter only appears if your project's Observation Profile defines classes.
The order of the list
Observations appear in the order they sit in the list, and you arrange that order yourself by dragging. There are no sort options. See Organising observations into groups for arranging them.
Finding a specific observation from the 3D model
Sometimes you want the opposite direction, because you can see the defect on the model but not its row. Click the observation in the 3D view or on an image and its row is selected and scrolled into view.
Going the other way, Go to observation on a row flies the 3D camera to it.
Selecting several at once
Rather than repeating the same action on twenty observations, select them all and do it once. Useful after an inspection round, when a batch needs grouping or clearing out.
One at a time: tick the checkbox on each row.
A range: tick the first, then hold Shift and click the last. Everything between is selected. Shift also works on the rows themselves, not just the checkboxes.
Everything visible: use the checkbox at the top of the list. It selects everything currently shown, so with a search or filter narrowing the list, only those observations are selected. Click it again to clear.
Clearing: press Esc, or click the top checkbox again.
Only the observations inside a group are selectable. Groups themselves are not.
What the count tells you
Above the list, one line always shows where you stand: the total, how many a filter is showing, or how many you have selected. Read it before a bulk action, particularly a delete.
What you can do with a selection
Open the ⋮ menu at the top of the list:

| Delete | Deletes everything selected. The confirmation names the count |
Move to group… only appears when the project has at least one group.
Bulk delete cannot be undone
The confirmation tells you how many observations you are about to delete. Read that number. It is the only check between you and losing a batch of work.
With a filter active, "select all" selected only the filtered observations. That is usually what you want, and it does mean the count can be smaller than the list you have in mind.
Why can't I find or select an observation?
