Linking to documents stored elsewhere
Not everything about an asset lives in Twinsity. Drawings sit in a Drive folder, the maintenance history is on a wiki, defects are tracked on a ticket board. The Links tab keeps those addresses on the project, so the next person does not have to ask for them.
Links are addresses, not copies. Twinsity stores the URL and opens it in a new tab; the document stays where it is, and whoever owns it still controls who can read it.
Where to find it
Links sits next to Files in the project panel, in both places that panel appears: on the project page, and in project settings while you are inspecting.
Adding a link
- Open the Links tab.
- Click Add. A row opens at the bottom of the list, where the new link will appear.
- Fill in the name, the URL, and a description if it helps.
- Save.
You can leave the https:// off the URL. Paste docs.google.com/… and Twinsity adds it for you.
The name is what people read, so make it the document, not the address: Structural drawings 2024 rather than Drive folder. The description is the place for anything that needs a caveat, such as which revision is current.
Opening a link
Click anywhere on the row. The link opens in a new tab, so your project stays where it was.
Selecting text in a row does not open it, so you can copy a URL without being sent to it. Open link in the row's ⋮ menu does the same thing as clicking.
Changing or removing a link
Both live in the row's ⋮ menu: Edit replaces the row with a form, and Delete removes it.
Deleting a link removes the address from Twinsity. The document itself is untouched.

Links use the same permissions as project files, so the Files and Links tabs appear together. If you can see one, you can see the other.
As a Viewer you see every link and can open them all. Add is not shown, and Edit and Delete are greyed in the menu.
Troubleshooting

| A link that will not open | The address is stored but is not a web address, so it is shown as plain text. Edit it and check the URL. |
| "Couldn't load links" | The list could not be fetched. Reopen the tab. |
| A colleague cannot open a link you added | Twinsity stores the address, not access to it. Check the sharing settings where the document lives. |
That last row causes most of the confusion. A link works for you because you already have access to the document.
